Fast Water Removal Before It Soaks In

Water extraction is the first and most important step after any flood or leak. The more water we physically pull out, the less has to be dried with air movers and dehumidifiers, and the more of your flooring, drywall and furniture can be saved.

A wet vac or towels only reach the surface. Carpet pad, the gaps under laminate and the bottom of drywall hold far more water than you can see. Our extraction equipment is built to pull that hidden water out.

We provide emergency water extraction across Scarborough and the surrounding parts of east Toronto, 24 hours a day.

Equipment We Use

Submersible pumps

For deep standing water in basements, stairwells and underground parking. Pumps move water out quickly and safely.

Truck mounted and portable extractors

Powerful vacuum units that pull water out of carpet, pad and hard floors. Portable units reach condos and upper floors.

Weighted extraction tools

Tools that press down on carpet while extracting, so water is squeezed out of the pad instead of left behind.

Moisture meters and thermal cameras

Used before and after extraction to find water inside walls, under floors and behind cabinets.

Where We Extract Water

  • Carpet and pad: in many clean water losses carpet can be extracted, dried in place and saved. Pad is usually replaced if it was soaked for long.
  • Hardwood, laminate and vinyl: surface water is removed and specialized drying is set up to limit cupping and swelling.
  • Concrete basement floors: water is pumped and squeegeed out, then the slab and lower walls are dried.
  • Behind walls and under cabinets: we open small access holes where needed so trapped water can be removed and air can get in.
  • Commercial spaces: offices, retail floors, restaurants and condo corridors.

Our Water Extraction Process

  1. Stop the source and check safety. We make sure the water is shut off and the area is safe from electrical hazards.
  2. Identify the water type. Clean water from a supply line is handled differently from grey water (washing machine, dishwasher) or black water (sewage, flood water).
  3. Pump out standing water. Deep water is removed with pumps first.
  4. Extract from flooring. Carpets, pad and hard floors are extracted with vacuum units until no more water comes up.
  5. Measure what is left. Moisture readings show what is still wet so drying equipment goes in the right places.
  6. Set up drying. Air movers and dehumidifiers finish the job. Learn how we limit further damage on our water mitigation page.

After the Water Is Out

Extraction removes the bulk of the water, but the building is still wet. Concrete, wood framing and drywall hold moisture that only comes out with controlled drying over several days. We monitor that drying daily and record readings for your insurance file.

When the structure is dry, we clean and sanitize the area and take care of the repairs, from new baseboards and drywall to flooring and paint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove the water myself with a shop vac?

For a small spill, yes. For anything that has soaked into carpet, run under walls or covered a basement floor, a shop vac leaves most of the water behind in the pad and the structure. That hidden water is what leads to mould and lifted floors.

Can my carpet be saved after water extraction?

Often, if it was clean water and it is extracted quickly. Carpet that sat in sewage or flood water, or stayed wet for several days, usually needs to be replaced. Carpet pad is more likely to need replacement than the carpet itself.

How long does water extraction take?

Extraction itself usually takes a few hours for a typical room or basement. Drying the structure afterwards takes several more days with equipment running.
